Place Card Holders: Rusted Mailbox with Place Name

Published July 19, 2012

I’ve always believed that first impressions are important. Whether it’s the invitation that arrives in the mail or the presentation of the table for the luncheon or dinner party. Sometimes the smallest details can leave a lasting impression. I love the creative touches that hosts add to their evening like place card settings. They don’t have to be time consuming or fussy but rather simple and effective.

If you are hosting an important event or would just like to have an established seating plan for your next dinner party why not try these simple and fun place card holders to add a little drama to your table.

Mailbox

This is a great example of an inexpensive item I found at a craft store that I thought would transform wonderfully as a place card holder. Simply insert a small paper letter inside with the attendee’s name printed on. Look for small items such as this at dollar stores and craft outlets.

Chocolate Box

Michaels Crafts carries wonderful miniature boxes in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Check out their wedding section for a box such as this where you can fill it with candy or chocolate and add a nametag for decoration. The attendee may bring the chocolates home at the end of the evening.

Pinecones

Believe it or not small pinecones make wonderful place card holders. Simply cut out a small piece of paper and write the guest’s name on it and insert it into one of the grooves of the pinecone. Place the cardholder at the top of the place setting.

Miniature Potted Plant

This is a great time of year to visit nurseries and grocery stores for their little potted plants. These little beauties look stunning at the each place setting with a small place card inserted inside. Colour coordinate these flowers with your napkins and place a few in the center of the table as a centerpiece.
