Get Organized #2
Published July 20, 2012
There’s no question that when you are organized your stress levels fall. We are all searching for that eternal answer to diminishing our stress but the question remains…how? Well I don’t profess to have the answers but I do know that organizing your day- to- day life is a key factor.
One way to keep your home organized is to take the time to devise a plan of how and where things should be kept. It’s easy to train yourself but not so easy to train your kids, so you need to come up with a way to make it easy for them to stay organized.
Erasable Labels may be the answer to your problem. The labels can be erased as the contents change over time and the containers are very easy to make.
Materials
- Wooden miniature storage boxes (available at Michael’s)
- Latex Chalkboard Paint
- Masking tape
- Paint brush
- Newspaper
- Chalk
I found the best selection of small, wooden boxes at Michael’s Crafts. They have all different shapes and sizes. The latex, chalkboard paint may be found in your local paint store. Just call ahead of time.
Plan out the space that you would like the paint to be applied and carefully lay the masking tape down in the desired shape. Lay your newspaper down and paint the inside panel with the chalkboard paint. Let dry and apply one more coat.
Once the paint is dry, peel back the masking tape and fill the container with your scissors, paint brushes, pencils or whatever you wish to organize. Repeat the same steps with the other containers.
Stack your boxes on top of each other to save space on your desk or kitchen counter.
This idea is not limited to small containers. Try it on large storage boxes and other large boxes that you may wish to use over time. Keep your chalkboard paint for later use as well. You will be surprised at the uses it will get over the years.
