Magnet Fun
Published July 20, 2012
One of the challenges of organizing and designing a child’s room is finding a place to display artwork, photos and other memorabilia that your child brings home from school.
There is always the traditional bulletin board, however, if you’re looking for something a little more fun and interesting try these animal magnets.
Each animal magnet is hand painted and attached to the wall with glue. If you are concerned with the glue damaging your wall, you may use small finishing nails instead.
Materials
- Wood animal cut outs (available at Michael’s crafts)
- Miniature complimentary wood cut outs (available at Michael’s crafts)
- Acrylic Paints in assorted colours (available at Michael’s crafts)
- Paint Brush
- Small 1cm magnets (available at craft stores)
- Glue
- Glue Gun
Plan out ahead of time how many animal cut outs you wish to have and how you would like them to be displayed on the wall.
Choose the animal cut outs that best fit the theme of your child’s room. For example, if your child has a preference for dogs, choose a dog theme in different shapes and sizes.
Begin by painting each animal figure and them sit overnight to dry.
In the morning, attach a small dab of glue on the magnet and attach to the backside of the large animal cut out. Attach another dab of glue to the miniature animal cut out on the backside.
Finally, attach another magnet to the center (of the good side), of the large animal magnet. This is how the miniature animal cut out is attached.
Apply the animal cut out to the wall with your glue gun or finishing nail.
To hang artwork and photos, simply place the paper between the magnets of the large animal and the miniature one.
When not in use, these little animal magnets look very cute on their own.
