Halloween Ghosts: Paper Fold Outs
Published October 31, 2012
What would Halloween be without ghosts?
This year make your own spooky renditions with some simple tissue paper foldouts and cheesecloth.
Most of the supplies for these can be found at your local dollar store and you and the kids can make them in less than 30 minutes.
Materials:
Small or large fold-out tissue wedding bells
Cheesecloth (available at grocery or dollar stores)
Black craft paper
Glue
LED tea lights (optional)
You can also use foldout tissue balls, available in the Martha Stewart section at Michaels, for this idea if you cannot find the tissue wedding bells. I found the bells work better for this idea as they have a flat bottom.
Fold out the bell and secure it with the included white clip.
Cut out the black eyes and mouth from the craft paper and glue to one side of the folded bell.
Drape your cheesecloth in a single layer over the tissue ghost and group 2 or 3 together in your front foyer or on your dining table.
For added effect, place a submersible LED tea light (available at select florist shops) in a clear votive and place the ghost on top. Dim the lights and watch the ghost glow. If you are using a fold-out ball then the clear votive can act as a stand for the ghost to sit in. Fright night safety
Be sure your child’s Halloween goes off without a hitch by only purchasing masks, wigs and costumes that are labelled flame retardant and use reflective tape wherever possible.
