Mother’s Day Tea

Published May 12, 2017

It has been a tradition for many years to bring moms flowers on Mother’s Day.

Any token of appreciation is nice to give your mom on her special day, but if you would like to go the extra mile this year then try this very easy teacup arrangement.

Tracking down an additional piece of your mom’s china or favourite tea pattern is a great idea. Combine it with fresh flowers for a beautiful first impression.

Materials

1 block of wet floral foam (available at grocery and floral stores)
Sharp knife or floral scissors
Assorted flowers
Wire or elastic band
Teacup and saucer
Green, wet floral tape (optional)

Soak the floral foam for 30 minutes ahead of time.

Once it is thoroughly saturated, cut a small piece to fit inside the teacup. At this point you may secure the foam with green floral tape if desired.

Cut your floral stems leaving approximately 2.5 centimetres on each stem. Begin by inserting the larger head flowers first then follow with the smaller ones. Fill the entire teacup in a dome shape and add water. Place the cup on the saucer and leave in a cool, dry location until you are ready to give it to the recipient.

This arrangement takes only minutes to assemble and will last for a week or so if properly watered.
