Autumn Table Arrangement
Published October 20, 2019
The leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter, and it’s time to pull out the sweaters and scarves and light the fire in the evenings.
It really doesn’t sound that awful when you think about it. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful city at this time of year.
If you are planning to do some autumn entertaining, here are a few ideas to set a warm and inviting table arrangement.
I have seen this idea at dinner parties and have since made them a few times. It’s actually one of the easiest and most effective ways to illuminate your autumn table.
Purchase a dozen deep red apples at your local grocery store. Using a melon scoop, carve out a small area at the top of the apple and insert a tea light. Scatter the apples down the center of the table. You can also do this idea with miniature gourds.
Hurricane lamp centerpiece
This is a really pretty idea. You will need a small hurricane lamp, a pillar candle and another larger glass cylindrical vase. Place the candle inside a hurricane lamp that is the same height as the candle. Then insert the hurricane lamp inside the glass vase. Be sure the glass vase is wide enough to accommodate the hurricane lamp with enough space to add chestnuts, cranberries and other colourful small fruit around the inside edge. The result is a really pretty centerpiece candle with all the colours of autumn.
If you have a large, glass vase you can create a beautiful floral centerpiece in minutes with just a few grocery store items. Purchase a colourful pre-made floral bouquet along with some miniature gourds. Place two or three miniature gourds inside your vase. Fill your vase with room temperature water, about two-thirds full. Cut the ends of the flowers with your pruning shears or a sharp knife to give them a nice, fresh cut. Add some floral preservative to your water if you wish at this point. Add the floral bouquet to the top of the vase.
