Harvest Table: Apples As Tealights
Published July 19, 2012
Its been done with gourds and sunflowers so why not autumn apples? A beautiful autumn table display can be assembled using apples from your crisper and colourful seasonal foliage. Combine deep reds, oranges and yellow tones to create a stunning centerpiece for your guests on Thanksgiving this year.
Materials
- 5-7 red apples
- Tea lights
- Sharp paring knife
- Decorative candles
- Autumn leaves, gourds
Wash the apples in cold water and let dry. With your paring knife, cut a small hole in the top of the apple. Be sure to cut no larger than the round tea light so as to avoid seeing the insides of the apple. Place the tea light inside on the top. Repeat this for the remaining apples and scatter randomly around the table. Light the candles just before the guests arrive.
If you would like to add more colours, simply add green apples and miniature small pumpkins on the table as well.
Tie off your napkin with some artificial autumn fruit and natural raffia and add to each place setting.
Nametags can be made ahead of time in the same theme as well. Simply purchase some artificial leaves from a craft store or use a firm leaf from your garden such as salal. Using a permanent marker, write the name of the guest on the leaf and attach to the stem of the apple. Place the apple on each plate.
The stores are full of small, pumpkin candles and other autumn decorations that you can use to accompany the apple votives. Use your imagination to create a colourful display this Thanksgiving.
