It’s In The Bag
Published July 19, 2012
If you are in the market for a fabulous gift for someone special or perhaps some stationary of your own I have the person for you. Every so often I come across a talent that I feel must be shared with readers. Imagine beautifully handcrafted greeting cards and framed art in the latest designer handbags complete with all details of the original bag. Teddi Kardos creates spectacular, miniature versions of the latest “it” bag which are used to adorn greeting cards and small shadow boxes.
Kardos, a long time North Shore resident, began producing belts and handbags for friends and family and eventually her business evolved into birth announcements and greeting cards. Over the years the requests came pouring in for her signature miniature handbag cards.
Each card is a 2 dimensional 2-inch reproduction from Birken, Louis Vuitton, Prada and other A-list designers. Kardos does all the work by hand with extensive attention to detail. Handles, buckles and straps are all unique with some of the detail in jewels. Most of the bags are made of specialty paper but others are fabric or small pieces of leather.
Always on the hunt for materials such as paper, leather, miniature buckles and broken pieces of jewellery, Kardos has used old gift-wrap, glossy mail-outs and shopping bags. Broken toys have also found their way into some of her creations.
Each card is unique and some are one-of-a-kind designs that cannot be duplicated due to the fact that the materials can no longer be found. These cards make wonderful gifts and can be personalized either for you or for someone special.
