Flower Flip Flops and Miniature Sprinkle Cones

Having some rainy day projects ready to go for those inclement summer days is a good idea. Ideas that can be put together easily and without a lot of fuss are the best.
Here’s a couple of simple and fun ideas that you and the kids can enjoy while you wait for the sunshine to appear.
Flower Flip Flops
Brighten up those plain flip-flops with this decorative idea using simple fabric flowers and a little glue. Stores such as Old Navy and Superstore are all carrying inexpensive flip-flops at this time of year. Next time you are in pick up a pair or two for yourself and your kids.
When the rain unexpectedly arrives simply pull out your glue gun and some colourful fabric flowers (available at Dollar Stores) and have a little fun. Cut the small flower heads from their stems and attach them to the straps of the flip-flops. You can decorate the whole strap or simply adorn the section where the straps meet. If you are using a hot glue gun be sure to do the gluing for your child.
Miniature Sprinkle Cones
These little ice cream treats are very fun to make with the kids and the supplies can all be purchased at your local craft store and grocery outlet.
It’s best to use a small ice cream scoop that is approximately 1.5 inches in diameter. Purchase 2 or 3 different varieties of ice cream. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and doll out a dozen ice cream scoops on the paper. Insert the small craft stick in each ball. Place in the freezer until hardened.
Once the ice cream has become solid, roll the scoops in colourful varieties of sprinkles, nuts and crushed candies. The kids will love this activity and you will be left with pre-made ice cream treats when the sun arrives.
