Gift-Giving…Monogram Ideas
Published July 20, 2012
Now that the Holiday rush is over, most of our gift giving is done. But what do you give a hostess during the months of January and February? Perhaps a personalized gift is a nice idea.
Initial stamps and monogrammed items make very special gifts for the host of your next dinner party. These stamps are available at craft stores and other fine stationary outlets. Choose stamps that have an elegant font for this idea.
Materials
- Long tapered candles
- Short and Tall Pillar Candles
- Initial stamp
- Sealing wax (available at stationary and art supply stores)
- Wrapping paper
If you know your host’s colour scheme within their home, it’s always nice to attempt to match the candles to this colour theme. Otherwise, choose soft, muted colours for the candles.
Heat the initial stamp and press into the pillar candle about one inch from the bottom. Be sure to remove any excess wax with a soft cloth.
For the tapered candles, press the heated initial stamp into the bottom section of the candles and wrap the pair in a 4″ x 2″ piece of wrapping paper. Carefully, heat the sealing wax and drip a small amount on the wrapping paper. Press the intial stamp into the melted wax. This makes a very nice presentation.
*Did you know?
Wax seals may be practiced on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. This way you can remove the best ones and glue on your letter head with a glue gun.
