Holiday Gift Wrap:Pom Pom Tree

This year wrap your gifts with style and creativity. If you find you have some time with the kids, this idea is very kid-friendly and fun to do. The trees are the easiest to make but you may also try other designs with different adornments.

The pom pom trees take only minutes to assemble and using recycled paper makes this idea a “green” one.

Materials

• Brown recycled paper (or other plain paper)
• Tape
• Glue
• Scissors
• Miniature Pom Poms (available at Michaels)
• *The miniature green pom poms come in large packs that will easily make 5-6 trees.
• Raffia *optional

Directions

Wrap your gift with the plain paper. Determine the center of the gift and place a middle row of pom poms for the tree. (The amount will depend upon the size of the gift) Work your way up row by row with the pom poms until the tip of the tree is reached. Finish the tree by adding one or two more rows of pom poms and then one for the stem of the tree and two for the base.

Add some raffia on the edges of the gift for added effect.

Other wrapping ideas using pom poms include snowmen and snowballs. Snowmen are easily assembled by grouping white miniature pom poms together to for the body of the snowman. Make the lower ball larger than the top and then add a black hat (from black construction paper) and cut out eyes and a carrot nose from different coloured papers. Add a broom and perhaps a tree in the background.

Use your imagination and allow the kids to exercise their creative juices for this craft. You will be surprised how the hours pass!
