Spider & Ghost Lollipops
Published July 20, 2012
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We can all find new delights on Halloween by dusting off old costumes and indulging in the company of others.
This year, when the witches and goblins mingle under your front-porch lights to scream “Trick-or-treat”, make an indelible impression on them with these stylish ghost and spider lollipops.
The kids will love to help you with these and they are quick and very easy to assemble.
Materials
- Assorted wrapped lollipops
- black, orange, green and white tissue paper
- black and white pipe cleaners
- glue and glue gun
- Scissors
- Tape
- Chocolate Chipits
Most of the above items can be purchased at your local dollar store. Look for the packages of tissue paper that are 1$- 2$ each. Lollipops are best bought in bulk at grocery stores, Costco or Walmart.
For the black spiders, cut the tissue paper in square pieces measuring 4″ x 4″. Wrap the black tissue around the lollipop and twist tight around the base of the ball. Secure with a tiny piece of clear tape. Fold the black pipe cleaner in half and twist it around the base of the lollipop to form the legs. Repeat with 2 more pipe cleaners. The end result is 6 legs. Bend the ends of the cleaners to form the feet of the spider.
The ghost lollipops are made in a similar fashion with the white tissue paper. Simply wrap the tissue paper around the lollipop and secure with a small piece of white pipe cleaner.
The orange tissue paper is for the pumpkins. Wrap a 1″ x 1″ piece of green tissue paper around one chocolate chip and glue to secure. Wrap the 4″ x 4″ piece of orange tissue around the lollipop and secure with clear tape. With your glue gun, glue the green chip to the top of the pumpkin.
Other treat bags can be made with orange and black construction paper. If you can’t find small orange or black treat bags (Dollar Stores are great for these) then you can make your own. Cut the construction paper into pieces measuring 16″ long and 6″ wide. Secure sides with glue gun or tape. To make pumpkin bags, fill the orange bags with treats and tie the top tightly with tape. Cover the tape with green ribbon and shape into the stem of the pumpkin.
Alternatively, you can make black spider bags. Simply make the bag as in the above instructions and tie off the bag with small black spiders made out of leftover black pipe cleaners.
