Teacher Appreciation Gift

Published July 20, 2012

If your school year is coming to a close  it’s always nice to give your child’s teacher a goodbye gift.

What better gift than one made by the children themselves?

A scrapbook filled with pages designed by all of the kids in the class is a wonderful gift idea for any elementary school teacher. Each page is decorated by a child and filled with his or her own photographs, pictures and poems.

If you give yourself a week to organize it in co-operation with the parents of your child’s classmates, the results are well worth it.

Materials

  • Large sized Scrapbook with removable pages in any color or white (available at Michael’s crafts)
  • Additional Removable pages (enough for every class member)
  • *If the removable pages do not come with clear page protectors then you may purchase them at the craft store
  • Acrylic Paints in assorted colours
  • Paint brushes
  • Small foamy stick-ons and other decorative items
  • Miniature wood cut-outs
  • Photos of the children (Optional)

After you have purchased your scrapbook, give each child a removable page and protector to take home and decorate. This may be done with the help of a parent. Photographs , sayings and poems are always appreciated along with the child’s artwork and favorite  memories of their teacher. Be sure to include a “directions” page for each child with helpful suggestions on how to decorate.

On the reverse side of the page you may want to include a “fill –in-the-blank” form where the child can fill in their own thoughts about their teacher. For example, “My favorite thing about Ms. Brown is______.”

Once you have all the completed pages returned from the students you are now ready to decorate the front cover of the scrapbook.

Choosing a theme is always a nice way to create a special cover. Investigate ahead of time what your teacher’s special interests are and create a theme this way. For example, a golfing theme or perhaps a sports theme.

Wrap up the book in clear cellophane and present it to the teacher at the year-end party.

It’s a guaranteed emotional and heartfelt gift.
