Outdoor Rugs Add Style To Your Patio
Published July 09, 2019
Outdoor rugs have the ability to add style and comfort to your outdoor living space. Not only do they add a comfortable feel to your patio but they also can add a sense of style and colour that will make you wonder why you didn’t have a rug before.
Now that you have splurged on your favourite outdoor patio furniture complement the pieces with a beautiful outdoor rug to pull the whole look together.
These days, outdoor rugs are designed to reflect the same trends you see with interior rugs in top home decorating stores.
Before you head out and purchase an outdoor rug, there are a few factors you should consider.
Choosing the correct size rug is just as important as the colour or style. It’s a good idea to purchase a rug that is not too large so as to cover up too much of your patio or deck.
If you plan to have an outdoor rug under your dining set then choose a rectangular rug for a rectangular table. A round rug is recommended for a round dining set. Another great tip is to be sure that when the chairs are pulled out from the table that all four legs of the chairs remain on the rug.
For outdoor seating areas, there are two options. Have all four legs of each piece of furniture completely on the rug or just have the front two legs of each piece resting on the rug. This way you will achieve a nice balanced look.
Consider the type of material used in the rug before you purchase. Would you prefer a synthetic rug that tends to offer more colours and dries quickly or a natural material that is strong and sustainable over the years? Both are great options so it depends on your preference and look you are trying to achieve. I like the synthetic rugs because they are easy to clean and quite durable, especially if you are a pet owner.
And remember, you don’t have to use an outdoor rug exclusively outside. Many times I use these beautiful outdoor rugs inside. They are perfect for playrooms, kitchens and mudrooms.
If you’re looking to spruce up your patio this year then definitely try an outdoor rug. Not only do they look great but they definitely become an extension of your interior of your home.
